Christmas

X-mas is the most special time of the year.

I invite everyone to think back and treasure the best of X-mas memories.

I have a big Mexican family, since I can remember we celebrated the 24th, going to church and then to my grandmother’s home with a fantastic meal…. we would always sing “posada”, a x-mas carol which commemorates the journey that  Joseph and Mary made in search of a refuge, where Mary could give birth to Jesus.

After the singing of the carols, we all grab a piece of a huge blanket and we have cooing Baby Jesus with another carol.

Somewhere we have to make room for the Breaking the piñata is an activity for the children and the adults.

Then we would have dinner with traditional Mexican food such as “romeritos”, which consists of tender sprigs of sweepweed which are boiled and served with mole sauce with shrimp jerky, and my favorite dish, the apple salad, a secret family recipe.

Immediately after dinner we would open the presents, each one would give one to each member, so that would mean all the 60 people present would get 60 good presents, unbelievable.

The most funny was at the last minute a raffle for Lastima Margarito with joke presents and some funny, some old, some good whatever will entertain the rest of the family

Then we would dance  and sing until 5 am.  The next day everybody would meet for lunch to eat leftovers, every family brought either the turkey, or one dish, or dessert etc etc..

One of my best memories is preparing the turkey, or  going to the garden with avenging lights.

Merry Xmas, everyone make this one a special one.
